Consulting rates: $65 for 1-hour, $90 for 2-hours.
Preliminary Edit
I will edit the first ~3,500 words of your manuscript. I will provide general, running commentary and a brief accompanying assessment. This assessment will cover significant topics such as things I like, notable issues (plot, character development, tone, prose quality, mechanics, etc.), and general feedback on the state of the manuscript. I will also tell you where I think the manuscript is in the editorial process and how to move the project forward.Â
Preliminary rate: $0.02 per word. If you wish to employ my services further, I highly recommend a 1-hour phone consultation as well.
Developmental Editing
A high-level edit for manuscripts in earlier stages of development; focus on character development, plot, narrative progression, etc. $0.02/word.
Line Editing
Mid-stage editorial development. Here we are looking at the sentence-paragraph level, focusing on prose quality, reading clarity, word choice, transitions, pacing, etc. $0/03/word.
Copy Edit/Proofing
Late- to final-stage editorial development. Here we are concerned with spelling, punctuation, and general writing mechanics. Also may consider specifics of style and formatting. $0.02/word.
